Many of these products have to meet strict quality requirements and precise dimensions. That is why at HWI we always do a thorough quality control. We keep a sharp eye on the correct quality and dimensions of products. But how and when do we actually carry out such checks?

Manufacturing individual parts for a variety of customers and purposes. That is the core business of HWI. We produce these parts using state-of-the-art equipment and machinery. For many of these products, the dimensions and quality of materials used are extremely precise.

For this reason, we have a dedicated Quality Control department at HWI. Here, two specialised employees do a check on all products developed at HWI just before the products leave our machine factory. In some cases, we also do an entry check.

Output control
During the exit inspection, we check whether the dimensions of the product match the technical drawing. In some cases, we do this by hand: we use various types of callipers for this purpose. When the dimensions of products are accurate to a few hundredths of a millimetre or have shapes that are difficult to measure, we use a computer-controlled measuring arm. This ISO-certified and fully calibrated measuring arm is specially designed for measuring precision measurements. The results are therefore accurate to the hundredth millimetre.

When customers require a measurement report, for example when the manufactured product has to meet high standards, we prepare it for them in an Excel file. All measurement results are automatically exported, so customers always receive an up-to-date overview of the results.

Input control
Many customers require the use of materials with a so-called ‘3.1 certificate’. With such a certificate, an authorised member of staff certifies that the materials supplied meet the standards or requirements specified when the order was placed. This states, for example, the tensile strength of the material and the batch number. The QC department is not the only department that checks this: our purchasing department already checks on arrival that the material delivered meets the correct requirements and contains the necessary certificates.

When the product leaves our machine factory and heads for the customer, we check it again. We also then affix the correct batch numbers to the developed product: this is important for product traceability. At this point, we can issue a new certificate confirming the quality. We call this a stamping declaration.

Zo meten we de kwaliteit van onze producten Bij HWI Machining produceren we hoogwaardige producten voor uiteenlopende klanten.
